Elena leads Ashurst Risk Advisory's Sustainability and Climate Change practice and works with clients to implement sustainable, agile and effective risk management that supports the achievement of business strategies and commitments in relation to sustainability, net zero and climate positive targets, while ensuring regulatory and compliance obligations are met.
Robert Hanley leads Ashurst's head office advisory practice, Legal Governance Advisory. Rob advises ASX–listed and larger private companies on strategic corporate governance matters. He acts as a trusted adviser to our clients’ Chairs, Company Secretaries and General Counsel, providing pragmatic advice and guidance on legal and regulatory requirements as well as current and emerging risks.
Natsuko acts primarily for Japanese clients investing in and doing business in Australia. She leads the firm's Japan practice in Australia and is one of only a small number of senior lawyers in the Australian market who is capable of executing major transactions in Japanese and English.
Natsuko also regularly advises her clients on Australia's foreign investment framework, directors' duties, Corporations Act requirements and corporate governance. Her clients include leading companies in a broad cross section of industries including resources and energy (including oil and gas and renewables), carbon, food and agriculture, and business and financial services, infrastructure, telecommunications and retail.
Michael is Aurecon’s global lead for Risk and Assurance Strategy. A strategic leader for complex environments, he has over 30 years’ experience in strategy, risk, mega-projects, and resilience. He leads Aurecon’s risk solutions and advisory business, championing the critical role risk plays in achieving strategic objectives, pursuing opportunities, and managing risk in complex environments.
Passionate about how decision-makers and executive teams make better decisions whilst managing uncertain, volatile and ambiguous contexts, he has built and led high performing management teams in the Resources, Banking and Finance, Defence and National Security, Executive Government, Energy, Water, Transport and Health industries.
Paul works with government and industry leaders to help them navigate from the way they operate today industrially, to a net zero model. He knows the challenges and opportunities for future industries and business models, assets and workforces having navigated the energy transition for governments and industry for more than a decade.
Paul has over 25 years’ experience working across all aspects of the energy sector including some of the most significant projects in the Australian energy market, including the TransGrid acquisition, Australia’s largest wind and solar and battery projects and the Government of South Australia’s Clean Energy Transition. As part of advising both the public and private sector on the development of strategies, targets, policies and projects to combat the negative impacts of climate change he led a team to deliver Aurecon’s Hydrogen for Transport report that informed Australia’s National Hydrogen Roadmap.
In his roles at Aurecon as Group Director, Sustainability and Managing Director, Energy he continues to evolve Aurecon’s sustainability and climate change expertise to address client challenges including the transition to net zero and manage Aurecon’s corporate sustainability transparency with Aurecon’s board.
Paul is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He holds a Certificate in Design Led Innovation from Stanford University. He is also a member of The University of Queensland’s Master of Sustainable Energy Advisory Board and continues to work closely in partnership with The University of Queensland and QUT to lead change for students and business.
