The ANZCCJ Sustainability Committee in collaboration with the New Zealand Embassy in Tokyo, invites members and guests to join us for an exclusive seminar on integrating climate-related risks into corporate decision-making and strategic planning featuring two global experts from Climate Change Advisory, Te Whakahaere Āhuarangi Ltd.

  • Mark Baker-Jones: A leading figure in climate change policy and transition planning with over two decades of experience focusing on regulatory and policy risk associated with climate change.
  • Dr. Melanie Baker-Jones: Blending legal, technical, and practical expertise to advise on climate change, law, and risk management, helping clients develop sustainable future contributions.

The implementation of mandatory climate-related financial disclosures regimes globally marks a pivotal moment in corporate governance, driving transparency and accountability from businesses of all sizes. Join this insights-led discussion on the impact of climate-related risk on corporate decision-making and strategic planning, aligning with mandatory climate-related financial disclosure requirements, underpinned by regional insights across our three countries:

  • Japan: The mandatory climate-related financial disclosures regime is expected to commence in 2025, requiring companies to disclose information on governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics related to climate risks and opportunities.
  • New Zealand: The first jurisdiction to implement a mandatory climate-related financial disclosures regime, requiring large financial market participants to disclose climate-related risks and opportunities.
  • Australia: Proposes to introduce its mandatory climate-related financial disclosures regime for financial years beginning on or after January 2025, overseen by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
